Behind Every Statistic is a Story

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that behind every statistic is a story. This weekend, I was able to serve alongside Stephanie Boone and her church group. We split up in to teams and were handed one of over fifty sheets of paper – all with names and addresses of our neighbors that needed help. We wound up in Central, where we helped gut Dianna Duty Payne‘s beautiful home (which took on 6 ft of water). She was willing to share her story with me even as hammers beat behind her, destroying what the flooding didn’t. The water has receded but the work has just begun. If you’d like to help a specific family that’s been affected by the flooding, visit Adopt a Louisiana Family‘s page to get connected.

(Also huge thanks to my favorite sound guy Ian Painter for mixing this for free until midnight last night.)
